Welcome to the President’s Scholars' Costa Rica website!

This summer, twelve of us had the opportunity to experience the vibrant culture and beautiful country of Costa Rica for a week. We wanted to share our experiences through this website in hopes that similar programs will continue to be an enticing opportunity for President’s Scholars in the future.

The Costa Rica Outward Bound program is unique in the sense that its students see more of Costa Rica than the average tourist. We not only had the adventure of hiking and rafting through the rainforest and surfing on world renowned waters, we also learned a lot about the people of Costa Rica. Through home-stays with various families we saw deeper into their values and simple, yet hard-working way of life. We were grateful for such a refreshing experience and an opportunity to escape the fast-paced and technologically oriented life we are so used to at home. Over the course of the trip through our activities and nightly meetings, we really bonded as a team and learned a lot about ourselves individually.

We’d like to thank Randy McDow, Billiee Pendleton-Parker, and the PS office for organizing the trip and funding our visit through the Fleet Scholarship, as well as our instructors Orlando, Abraham, and Eric.

Go on and explore the website! Read our journal entries to get a better look at each day’s agenda, and browse through the pictures which capture life long memories for our group in exotic, unforgettable Costa Rica.
