The Oxford program was the trip of a lifetime. Touring Europe, from the snow-covered Alps to Italian sunshine, is something I’ve always dreamed of doing, but I never had the opportunity before this program and the Fleet Scholarship. This chance allowed me not only to visit some of the most amazing cities on the globe and study their culture at the same time, but to also spend six weeks in one of my favorite places in the world - Oxford, England.

My Trip |

Among my favorite cities was Paris. Seeing the Louvre, the Eiffel Tower sparkle at night, and being there for La Fete de Music (the annual summer music festival) was an experience I’ll never forget. Hearing different musical styles from around the world as I walked through streets packed with celebrating people made that night one of the most memorable of my life.

While I saw some great sites on the travel portion, nothing can compare to the time in Oxford or the weekends I traveled in the UK. Whether I was walking through the beautiful cliffs in Edinburgh, Scotland, looking out on Cardiff Bay in Wales, or sitting with friends in the room where C.S. Louis and J.R.R. Tolkien used to meet in Oxford, I always felt at home. I wouldn’t trade anything for my time in Great Britain, and from now on I’ll always be wishing for a chance to go back, if only to see the Worcester College campus again. |
